Local AI ASO
The local-AI ASO tool: run keyword research on your own Mac
RespectASO Pro runs its AI workflows on a model hosted on your own Mac via Ollama or LM Studio — with no per-query cost, no API key, and full privacy. The same agentic research, competitor analysis, and metadata scoring, now entirely on-device.
What "Local AI" means here, in one paragraph
Most AI-powered ASO tools meter every AI call, and you pay for each one. RespectASO Pro gives you another path: Local AI. You run a model on your own Mac, point RespectASO at it, and the Pro AI workflows run on-device. There's no per-query cost, no API key, and nothing leaves your machine. The same agentic research, competitor analysis, and metadata scoring you'd get from a cloud model — now powered by hardware you already own.
The money story: no AI bill
RespectASO Pro has always been built to keep AI cost in your hands. With a cloud provider you bring your own key and pay the provider directly, with no platform markup. Local AI takes that one step further: the model runs on your own hardware, so there's no per-query cost at all. Run keyword research, competitor breakdowns, and metadata simulations as often as you like without watching a meter.
| How you run the AI | Per-query cost | API key | Where it runs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloud provider (OpenAI / Anthropic / Gemini) | Charged by your provider | Your own key | Provider's servers |
| Local AI (Ollama / LM Studio) | None | None | Your Mac |
The three Pro AI workflows — now on-device
| Pro workflow | What it does |
|---|---|
| AI Niche Researcher | Expands a seed keyword into a researched niche with related terms, intents, and country signals. |
| AI Competitor Analyzer | Breaks down a top-ranking competitor's positioning, metadata patterns, and likely keyword strategy. |
| ASO Score Simulator | Evaluates a draft title/subtitle/keyword field bundle against scoring and competitor context. |
All three run the same agentic engine whether you choose a cloud model or Local AI — you're just choosing where the model lives. See AI Features for what each one produces.
Two easy ways to run a model locally
- Ollama — a lightweight model server. Install it, pull a model, and RespectASO connects at
http://localhost:11434. - LM Studio — a friendly desktop app for downloading and serving models. Start its local server and RespectASO connects at
http://localhost:1234.
Any other OpenAI-compatible local endpoint works too, via the Custom option. The full walkthrough lives in the Local AI setup guide.
How setup actually flows
- Install Ollama or LM Studio and download a model.
- In RespectASO, open Settings → AI and choose Local AI.
- Pick your runtime; the local address fills in automatically.
- Click Detect to list your installed models, and select one.
- Click Test Local AI to confirm your model is ready, then save and run any AI workflow.
Privacy: the whole workflow stays on your Mac
With Local AI, your prompts and results never leave your machine, and there's no API key to store or rotate. It's the same privacy-first principle documented on the privacy-first ASO tool page, now extended to the AI features themselves. If you also like running the rest of RespectASO on your own hardware, see the self-hosted ASO tool page.
Performance depends on your hardware — and that's the honest part
RespectASO's analyses are agentic: they research, score, and refine over several steps, so they involve demanding processing. Local models won't perform equally on every device — speed depends on your Mac's chip and memory bandwidth. If a run feels slow or its suggestions feel thin, a larger model is well worth it: bigger models handle the multi-step workflows best and return more robust, more relevant suggestions. You can cancel a run at any time, and you can always switch back to a cloud provider for a heavier job and return to Local AI for everyday work.
Honest limitations
- Local AI runs in the native macOS app. The Pro AI workflows are macOS-native and aren't part of the Docker free edition — the self-hosted page covers that distinction.
- You still need a Pro license to unlock the AI workflows. Local AI removes the per-query AI cost; it doesn't replace the license.
- Running models locally uses your Mac's memory and processing power. On lighter hardware, larger models may run slowly — a cloud provider remains a fast fallback.
- You install and manage the model server (Ollama or LM Studio) yourself. RespectASO connects to it; it doesn't bundle the model.
FAQ
Do I have to choose between Local AI and the cloud?
No. You can switch any time from Settings → AI. Many people use Local AI for everyday research and a cloud model for occasional heavy jobs. Cloud setup is covered on the API Keys page.
Which model should I run?
RespectASO works with the models you install — the one-click Test confirms a model is ready before you rely on it. As a rule of thumb, larger models produce more robust, relevant suggestions for these multi-step workflows.
How does this fit with the other positioning pages?
The BYOK page covers cloud AI cost control, the privacy-first page covers data and network behaviour, and the open-source page covers the AGPL-3.0 free edition. This page focuses on running the AI workflows locally for zero per-query cost.
Run your ASO AI on your own Mac — no AI bill
Point RespectASO Pro at a local model with Ollama or LM Studio and run the AI workflows with no per-query cost, no API key, and full privacy. Performance scales with your hardware — larger models give the most robust results.
