Is the free version really free?
Yes, 100%. The free version includes keyword research, difficulty scoring, competitor tracking, opportunity finder, and more. It's open-source (AGPL-3.0) and always will be. No accounts, no trial periods, no feature limits.
Is this a subscription?
No. It's a one-time payment for 1 year of Pro features and updates. Your card is charged once — we never store it or auto-charge you. When the year ends, you choose whether to renew for another year. No pressure, no recurring billing.
What happens when my Pro license expires?
You keep the version you have — all free features continue working forever. The 3 AI-powered Pro features (Niche Researcher, Competitor Analyzer, Score Simulator) become inactive, but you don't lose any data. You can renew at any time to re-activate Pro features and get another year of updates. Renewal is $49/year — same one-time payment, no auto-charges.
Do I need API keys for the free version?
No. The free version uses public Apple APIs — no keys needed. The Pro AI features use an LLM API key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or OpenRouter) that you provide yourself — or you can choose Local AI and run a model on your own Mac with no API key at all.
Can I run the AI features without paying for cloud usage?
Yes. With Local AI, you point RespectASO Pro at a model running on your own Mac (via Ollama or LM Studio). The AI workflows then run on-device with no per-query cost and no API key — run as many analyses as you like — and your prompts never leave your machine. These analyses involve demanding processing, so speed depends on your Mac's hardware, and larger models produce the most robust, relevant suggestions. See the Local AI setup guide.
Can I get a refund?
All sales are final. Pro licenses are non-refundable. We encourage you to try the free version first to make sure RespectASO fits your workflow before purchasing Pro. See our Terms of Service for details.
Why is Pro so affordable compared to other ASO tools?
Most ASO tools run cloud infrastructure and bake AI costs into a monthly subscription. RespectASO runs locally on your Mac — no servers for us to pay for — and uses a Bring Your Own Key model for AI features, so you pay your provider directly with no platform markup. Or skip cloud costs entirely with Local AI and run a model on your own Mac. We pass those savings on to you.
Does RespectASO work on Windows or Linux?
Pro features require the native macOS app (macOS 12+, Apple Silicon). A free Docker version with core features (keyword research, difficulty scoring, ranking tracking) is available for Linux and Windows users — see the GitHub repository for setup instructions. AI-powered Pro features are not available via Docker.
What is MCP and do I need it?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets AI assistants like Claude Desktop and Cursor connect directly to RespectASO's tools. Instead of using the app GUI, you can do keyword research, competitor analysis, and metadata optimization through natural conversation with your AI. It's completely optional — the full desktop app works without it. Free edition includes 7 MCP tools; Pro adds 12 more for a total of 19.
